Dibley's cottage is for sale
This Grade II-listed Buckinghamshire residence has received more media attention than the majority of two-bedroom cottages. That's because The Vicar of Dibley, a popular TV sitcom, gave it a lot of screen time. Additionally, it is a part of Geraldine Granger's house, the title character and cleric who won over the community through her portrayal by Dawn French.
The popular television programme ran from 1994 to 2007 with a few special episodes and even a stand-alone episode during a lockdown.
You might recognize some of the nearby locations from The Vicar of Dibley's three series because the village served as the backdrop for its filming. The picture-postcard house features views of the village green and is tucked between the nearby church and the neighborhood tavern.
In Henley-on-Thames, real estate agent Charlie Chavasse of Savills said: "The sale is an opportunity to own a piece of British TV history."
Turville has been in numerous famous movies and TV shows throughout the years, so film and TV crews are no strangers to the community. You may be familiar with it from shows like Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Killing Eve, Midsomer Murders, and Goodnight, Mr. Tom.
The cottage's current owners noted that it makes for a fascinating talking point: "It has been quite exciting to own a property that has starred in such a successful sitcom. This is the first time in 60 years that the residence has been advertised for sale. The house looked gorgeous on the screen, and I hope the new owners enjoy their stay, they stated.
